3 Secrets Personal Trainers Keep Hidden

All trainers out there have something they want to keep hidden from you, and usually they have a good reason. Don’t get us wrong, we love personal trainers, especially those local to Rossendale (much love guys), but not all trainers are made equal, and some just don’t play fair.

Don’t get us wrong, we love personal trainers, especially those local to Rossendale (much love guys), but not all trainers are made equal, and some just don’t play fair.

Today we’re going in. We’re throwing rights and lefts, and we’re going to tell you some of the secrets some personal trainers are trying to keep from you. That way, next time you run into a trainer promising the world, you can make a decent decision.

So let’s get into it, 3 secrets personal trainers don’t want you to know;

You Don’t Need Them

you-don't-need-them

That’s right we said it! You don’t need them to get what you want! You can do it on your own, if anything, they need you! This brings up two points we should delve into.

Firstly, think about it, personal trainers are only going to be working as long as they have clients to work with, therefore they need you. That means that you shouldn’t settle for someone who is sub-par.

You want someone who really cares about your needs and supports you every step of the way. If they become complacent, if they start treating you as unimportant, and if they don’t seem to care, move on. Remember you don’t need them; you need someone who is going to help you reach your goals.

That brings us onto our second point, you can do it on your own! That’s right, you don’t need a personal trainer to reach your goals, all you have to do is read books and blogs, and watch YouTube videos. Once you have an understanding of what you should be doing, then you can make a plan and stick to it.

Personal trainers are only there to make the whole process easier, they will do all the hard work for you, so you just have to focus on working out. Granted they have specialist skills and it would take you a long time to get the knowledge you need, but that doesn’t mean you’re stuck to only one option.

Abs Are Created in The Kitchen

Yeah, the cats outta the bag. Those abs you’re craving come as a result of what you eat, and not so much what you do when working out. That means no matter how many ways your personal trainer gets you hammering those abs, there only one real tried and tested way to get the results you want. By eating the right food in the right amounts.

Unfortunately, many trainers forget about the nutrition side of things as they focus on the physical exercise. When in fact what you consume will be responsible for around 90% of your results.

Bottom line is, find yourself a trainer who appreciates how your diet can affect your results and can point you in the direction of specialist advice, should you need it.

Exercise Isn’t Always Complicated

If you speak to others that have already achieved your goals, or listen to fitness professionals talk, you’ll notice that they always seem to mention three main exercises; deadlifts, squats and bench press.

Three main exercises, they’re the foundations that make up any training regime worth its salt. If your trainer isn’t getting you to carry out these exercises regularly then you need to be asking them why.

There isn’t any super-special exercise that’ll turn you into a tank in 2 weeks, there are no magical formulas for success and there is no one size fits all. Your trainer should be creating a solid workout plan with you and be including the basic and fundamental exercises In them.

If you notice you have silly movements like a headstand whilst balancing on a medicine ball, or one handed chin-ups whilst wearing ski gear, or anything else that seems ridiculous, don’t be afraid to question the trainers reasoning.

And that’s it, the three secrets personal trainers keep hidden from you. For the most part, it’s understandable why PT’s may have secrets, after all it is business, however it’s your responsibility to make sure you don’t waste your time/money on someone who isn’t right for you.
